Tomato Time!

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. Hope everyone is enjoying this “false spring.” One of the unique features of Nashville is that we have about a dozen seasons, and they can change overnight. Fortunately, it looks like the decent weather will last through the Tomato Art Festival this weekend,

Yes, the Tomato Art Festival is just a few short days away. I’ve been participating in the festival for the last 13 years, both as an artist and a business person when I had my studio/gallery at the Idea Hatchery. I’ve seen the festival grow in size, both in terms of the number of vendors and the number of visitors. Sometimes I think the art part of the festival has diminished over that time. This year will be a test of the art appeal, since due to changes at Five Points, the art portion of the festival will be at the Main Street Gallery at 625 Main Street. The gallery is a nice, dedicated art space, but the art will not be at the center of the festival. But the managers will have shuttles running continuously from Woodland Wine Merchants to the Main Street Gallery. I encourage everyone to either buy a ticket to the Preview Party Thursday night, or be sure to catch the shuttle and go see (and buy) a piece of Tomato Art. A lot of artists have put time and labor into creating these pieces, so please appreciate the art.

As a reminder, “The Tomato With The Pearl Earring” will be there as well.

Thanks for looking. Have a great week and see you at the Tomato Festival.
