Cats Rule

Good morning from here in my East Nashville studio. Thankful for a sunny, warm morning, quite a contrast from the past rainy and stormy month. The vast majority of my portraits are of dogs, which is great. But we cannot forget our feline friends. I get to do a cat occasionally, and enjoy the challenge. From an artistic standpoint, cats are more challenging than dogs. Cats fur is filled with air, and tends to be thicker than most dogs. The color patterns on cats also tends to be more complex than dogs. So they do present a challenge, but that makes them fun. Here’s Boomer, who, I’m told, is a very sweet cat, but he certainly has the feline “stink eye” down pat. He was fun to paint, and I understand my client was happy with the portrait. Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy, and as always, stay safe.
