The Tomato Festival Is Just Around the Corner
Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. It’s another miserably hot day; I don’t do well in this kind of heat. You’d think I’d be used to it, being a Nashville native, but, alas, not so. I hope all of you are staying safe.
It’s just over three weeks to the Tomato Art Fest. For those who don’t know, it’s a huge festival of art, music, crafts and general fun, centered around the tomato, “A Uniter, Not a Divider”, since it’s a fruit and a vegetable. I was a big part of the festival for many years when I had my studio/gallery at the Idea Hatchery at Five Points. I continue to support the festival and have entered three pieces in the art show this year. I’ve already posted two of them, now here’s the final one.
This is “Madonna and Tomato.” This painting is based on a Rembrandt. I know, trying to imitate Rembrandt’s art was a wacky thing, but I think the painting turned out well. I’ve already had someone pledge to buy it, but I will have it in the show as well in hopes that it wins an award.
If you want to see the original, be sure to come to the Tomato Art Fest on August 10 and visit the official show building.
Hope you enjoy; be safe and stay cool.
