A Cat is a Cat

Good afternoon from my studio in East Nashville. Hope everyone is having a great week. Apologies for being so late posting something. I’ve been working on a portrait of my baby, just for fun. She strikes the most photogenic poses, especially when she’s asleep, which, as with most cats, is often.

I was also experimenting with being a little looser with the brushwork. I fear that lately I’ve become so obsessed with details that I’ve gotten away from expressing the emotion of the subject. I think this may be a bit more like what I want to do.
