It’s A Cat Kind of Day
Good afternoon from my studio in East Nashville. Hope everyone is doing well.
I’ve been working on a couple of portraits for weeks. They have been fighting me. Sometimes a portrait just seems to paint itself; others, not so much. Being stubborn – part of my Scotch-Irish heritage – I’m still working on them, and will eventually get them where I want them to be.
One is a cat, which brings some unusual challenges for a portrait.
Cat hair is filled with air, so the texture is very important. I’ve developed a few techniques to try and get that right. Still takes a long time.
So, here’s a cat portrait from a while back. This is Silvie, a clearly beautiful baby. Her hair is a little different, and came out pretty well.
Now is a good time to order a pet portrait. Pet portraits are a great way to honor your best friend. Let me know if I can create something for you.
