From the Frozen East

Good morning from my frozen studio in East Nashville. Actually, I can’t complain much since we have had power the whole time. I know many of my friends and neighbors have not. NES has restored power to over 100,000 customers, so they are doing extraordinary work and are appreciated.

I occasionally get to do a portrait of a house for a client. These are great keepsakes for a homeowner. This particular portrait has an amusing story. The painting was to be a present from parents to children, and it was to be a Christmas surprise. My client let me know when the kids would be gone so I could go and take refernce photos.

I went out to the house, as as usual, got out of my car and walked around, trying to find the best angle to make a good painting. I finished and left.

My client called after Christmas to tell me the kids loved the painting. She also told me that the neighborhood watch person saw me and called the police. Fortunately I had left before the police arrived. I don’t usually care a card to show I’m an artist, but I surely will from now on.

Anyway, thanks for looking. Hope you recover from this ice storm and stay safe. If I can paint something for you, just let me know.
