Cool Painting on a Hot Day
It’s an unusual good afternoon from my studio in East Nashville. As most of you know, I usually post these in the morning. My day’s timing is all off, thus the lateness of the hour.
This is Garnet. It’s a commission piece for one of my East Nashville neighbors. The reference photo had her in the nature setting, and he wanted that carried over to the painting. I deliberately made the foliage loose so as to not take away from the details on Garnet. Also, I bent my rules a little and did this one in a slightly smaller size, so the brush strokes are more obvious.. Still, I think it captures her pretty well.
As always, thanks for looking. Have a great day and stay cool in this upcoming heat wave.
