Another Cool Cat
Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. The early sunlight is streaming in my window, and it just feels like a nice day. i hope your day is nice as well.
Here’s Squeaky, a cute black cat I got to paint. The painting is very loose because the reference photo was of low quality. The old saying “Paint what you see” really applies. If I can’t see the details, then the painting becomes much looser. I’ve noticed over the years that the level of detail I can put in a portrait is directly related to the clarity and quality of the reference photo. The loose ones can still be good portraits; I just like putting in a lot of hyper-realistic details.
Anyway, hope you enjoy. Thanks for looking, and stay safe and well.
