A Birthday Surprise

Good afternoon from my studio in East Nashville. Hope everyone is having a great week and getting ready for Halloween. Sadly, the time changes this weekend as well, so my sleep schedule will be off for the next couple of weeks. Sleep physicians say that standard time is the best for us. Recent proposals to make Daylight Savings Time permanent has reminded us that we tried that back in the ’70’s and repealed in in three years. Turned out other countries tried that as well, and they all reversed the change. Guess we’re going to have to deal with the changes for some time, or make Standard Time year round.

I did a piece for this year’s Tomato Art Fest that featured a humming bird and tomatoes. The mother of a good friend of mine really liked that painting, but it had already sold by the time they saw it. So my friend contacted me to do a painting for her mother as a surprise birthday present.

Then, ironically, her mother contacted me about painting one for her. My friend and I conspired to say I wouldn’t be able to do it until after her birthday. Of course, we went ahead with the painting.

My friend gave it to her mom this past weekend, and she was so surprised and thrilled. I get such a kick out of creating something that makes someone happy.

So here’s “Indigo Bunting with Tomatoes.” Let me know if I can create something for you. Thanks.
