An Old Friend

Good morning from my studio in East Nashville. I hope everyone survived the weekend storms and the crowds that descended on Nashville. We have absolutely become the place to go to and have fun. On a personal note, our street had a block party Sunday, though indoors due to the rain, and I’m so happy that we have such a wonderful neighborhood here in East Nashville.

Here’s a portrait from the archives that I don’t think I’ve shared. If I have, it’s been quite some time. This is Sweetie, a pure breed mutt, sometimes referred to as a “Tennessee Black Dog.” Sweetie was mine. We found her abandoned in White House, and took her home and cared for her and got her back to health. She had problems at first; she farted a lot, and snored like a freight train. But we loved her very much. Unfortunately, she suffered a spine issue that could not be corrected, and we had to let her go. Her portrait hangs in my dining room, and I think about her every day. If you’ve never known the love of a dog, you’ve missed one of the bast parts of life.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day and stay safe.
